GIL
Gil inherited not only the craft of barbering from his father, but also a genuine care for people. While in college, he practiced barbering on the side and worked alongside talented barbers in Brazil. He later moved to the United States to study English in the Greater Boston area and graduated from Fitchburg State University. Throughout his journey, he remained dedicated to barbering, drawing inspiration from barbers across the U.S. and around the world, elevating his craft to an even higher level of excellence.
PETE
Pete is a highly skilled barber originally from New York City, now based in Myrtle Beach. Bringing his big city style and flair, Pete has a passion for helping people look and feel their best and takes great pride in his work. When he's not busy cutting hair, Pete enjoys spending quality time with his children and close friends. He’s known for his straightforward personality and easy-going nature, which have earned him a loyal following among his clients.
KRIS
Originally from New Jersey, Kris is a retired police officer with a lifelong passion for barbering. In 2017, he moved to South Carolina with his family. With more time to dedicate himself to his passion he pursued formal training and his license in 2018.
Known for his attention to detail, engaging conversation, and personable demeanor, Kris creates a welcoming and comfortable experience. Outside of work, he supports his parents and devotes time to his children, balancing school and sports practices. Big on BJJ and wrestling, Kris is also tuned into UFC.
GARRETT
Garrett is originally from Niagara Falls, New York, and he came to Myrtle beach bringing his contagious smile and positive vibe. He has become a go-to professional for clients looking for a fun, comfortable, and stylish haircut experience. Whether you're after a fresh fade, a classic or something trendy and unique, Garrett's got you covered. Sit back, relax, and let him work his magic on your hair. You'll leave feeling great and looking even better!
SHANYCE
Born and raised in Baltimore, Shanyce has called Myrtle Beach home since 2020. Her passion for barbering began at age of 15. After graduating at Myrtle Beach high school, she was juggling part-time jobs. Also, she occupied her time practicing barbering, assisting with her little sister and playing basketball.
Now, Shanyce got drafted to our Team through our Mentorship Program. Shanyce already excels at creating clean fades and tapers and demonstrates a strong eager to learn from the Grand Strand's best barbers.
Our History
THE SON OF A BARBER is a second-generation barbershop. Gilmar, Gil's Father, established his first shop in 1991 called 'Barbearia Moderno' modern barbershop.
The motivation for Gilmar to become a barber came while he was camped on a remote mineral exploration site on the 'Serra do Tiracambu', in Amazonia between 1986 and 1988. He used to offer haircuts and beard shave for his coworkers. They used to say that his services were so good that he could open his own shop.
Over the years Gilmar accumulated experience, certificates and new techniques. Eventually he taught his kids, his wife and inspired other family members to follow the craft.
